Performing arts series are eagerly-anticipated opportunities for community members and visitors to an area to participate in the arts and to support local and regional performing arts venues. Annual series can showcase national as well as local performers and subscriptions not only reduce the cost of attendance but also give attendees a sense of ownership and responsibility for keeping the arts alive. Look for special offers that make enjoying the performing arts more affordable in challenging economic times.

In Charlotte, the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is the largest cultural arts presenter in the state and home to nine other resident cultural organizations. Pack Place Education, Arts & Science Center in downtown Asheville is home to the Diana Wortham Theatre, active year round with live performances in music, theatre and dance as well as serving as primary venue for a variety of professional and avocational performing arts organizations. In Carrboro, adjoining Chapel Hill, The ArtsCenter presents stage performances, art and photo displays and competitions, as well as ArtSchool, Orange County's most comprehensive non-profit resource for continuing education in the arts on a non-degree, community basis.
