There are countless ways to connect with the performing arts across our state.

Search the N.C. Arts Council Web site to find our Touring Artists Directory, a selected listing of more than 150 North Carolina literary, performing and visual artists and arts groups who are available to perform or share their talents throughout the state. The guide is designed to be a useful tool for presenters such as arts centers, colleges and universities, festivals, arts councils, schools, civic organizations or any other group hiring artists to work within their communities, as well as teaching artists. Use our website to access an events calendar, our Artist Fellowship recipients, N.C. Heritage Award recipients and Cherokee Artist Directory. You'll also find a statewide directory of local arts councils dedicated to bringing the best performing artists to your community — support them by volunteering or attending!

NC Dance Alliance is a statewide service organization that provides a variety of programs and services including The Annual Event, Mini-events, Dance Voice, a quarterly calendar, a membership directory, the annual NCDA Award, fiscal agent services, a web listserv and their Web site.

North Carolina Dance Festival is an annual showcase of North Carolina dance artists that travels to six communities. Unique in the country and now a North Carolina institution, eight different companies will tour, performing alongside artists local to the host communities, making the actual concerts a mix of local and statewide artists.

The Institute for Outdoor Drama, housed at UNC-Chapel Hill is the only organization in the U.S. providing national leadership in the outdoor drama movement by offering training, research and assistance to more than 120 constituent theatre companies across the country.

TAPS (Traditional Arts Programs for Students) is based upon the highly successful JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) project. TAPS provides community organizations (arts centers, schools, community centers) with funding for after-school programs that unite North Carolina elementary and middle school students with local traditional artists. Students receive instruction in an art form that has deep cultural roots in their community, taught by experts utilizing traditional instructional techniques. TAPS is an initiative of the N.C. Arts Council.

The North Carolina Presenters Consortium includes performing arts presenters, managers, agents, artists, vendors and service providers. Its goal is to advance the performing arts through collaboration, shared resources and professional development.

The North Carolina Theatre Conference works to improve and enhance the environment for quality theater in the state through service, leadership and advocacy. It supports all levels and sectors of the theater field.

LiveWire Asheville provides links to 65 local arts organizations and showcases their live performance events, whether music, dance, theatre, comedy, festivals, off-beat events and happenings in clubs.
